Department Overview

The men and women of Electric Operations ensure the delivery of safe and reliable electric service to our customers.
Electric Operations is responsible for every aspect of PG&E s electric distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, asset management, business planning, restoration and emergency response.

Position Summary

The Engineering Standards leaders oversee teams involved in one or more of the following:
engineering standards, technical support & consultation for the field, or technical documentation writing, publishing and management.
Incumbents ensure the company s engineering and design standards align with safety, reliability performance and compliance requirements.
The Manager may be assigned to Transmission or Distribution Operations.
The incumbent ensures staff adhere to all company and regulatory safety requirements and practices.

The work location will be flexible within PG&E's service territory.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manages Substation/T-Line guidance documents (e.
    g.
    policies, standards, work procedures, technical drawings, specifications, design criteria, manuals, etc.
    ) to ensure they are current and aligned with current safety, reliability and compliance requirements.
    Requires cross department coordination to ensure all impacted stakeholders are involved in updates or modifications to guidance documents.
  • Manages approval process for creation of new and modification of existing electric guidance documents.
    Reviews, approves and documents requests for exceptions to guidance documents.
  • Manages approval process for equipment vendors and standardization of new equipment for incorporation into company s portfolio of equipment selections.
  • Develops subject matter experts (SMEs) to support and manage the assigned department asset components.
    Supports asset strategy, project engineering, maintenance and construction departments in execution of work.
    Manages team s work demand and priorities.
  • Develops, recommends and champions process changes to improve safety, productivity, reliability, quality and customer focus.
    Participates, and in some cases, leads cross functional team meetings directed at improving the company s engineering and design criteria, equipment procurement and construction processes and procedures.
    Researches and benchmarks with other utilities best practices for engineering, maintenance and construction standards.
    Identifies new technology opportunities for improving substation and transmission standards.
  • Represents the company in external technical workshops and committees.
  • Works in collaboration with various groups in asset management to support company initiatives such as Enterprise Risk Management:
    Seismic mitigation activities, Wild land fire.
  • Manages assigned department material problem reports (MPR), Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and corrective actions.
  • Manages PCC budget of team.
  • Direct and indirect reports may include, Supervisors and Engineers.
    and bargaining unit personnel.
  • Manages staff to accomplish results through effective recruitment & selection, training & development, performance management, and rewards & recognition.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical, Civil or Mechanical Engineering
  • 10 years of related experience in Engineering.
  • 3 years of supervisory experience
  • 10% Travel

Desired:

  • Masters Degree in Electrical, Civil or Mechanical Engineering or Masters Degree in Business Administration
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) License
  • 15 years of engineering and design experience for Substation, Transmission Line and/or Distribution facilities.
  • 10 years of supervisory experience.
  • Previous experience in development and management of Substation, Transmission Line and/or Distribution Standards.
  • Knowledge and analytical skills surrounding electric substation and/or t-line utility engineering and design standards.
  • Understanding of regulatory compliance requirements for electric substation, transmission lines and/or distribution.
  • Understanding of financial structure including capital vs.
    expense, standard rates, productive capacity factor and non-labor costs and how to manage these successfully.
  • Knowledge of process improvement concepts, methods, practices and techniques.
  • Project management skills.
  • Strong leadership skills to effectively manage a diverse team.
  • Influence and negotiation skills to reach resolution on issues with various stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills to present and convey ideas and messages to internal clients or external contacts.
  • Proficiency with SAP, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
