Supervisory Public Affairs Specialist

To qualify, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 that demonstrates your knowledge of the concepts, principles, policies, and practices of a Public Affairs Program. Examples of specialized experience may include:
Providing oversight for activities assigned to a Public Affairs Office such as media relations, social media, community/Congressional relations, internal information, visual information, communication planning, policy review, and Public Affairs resource management. Developing targeted communication products and campaigns by utilizing a diverse array of media platforms to communicate information about agency programs, policies, initiatives, and other relevant information to the public. Knowledge of written, oral communication and visual information principles, methods, and techniques to determine the need for, plan, coordinate, conduct, and evaluate Public Affairs and multimedia activities. Education may not be substituted for specialized experience. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade requirement in accordance with 5 CFR 300.604. If you are a current Federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must have completed a minimum of 52 weeks at the next lower grade level.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
