The Spirit of the Position:
The SMF Safety Trainer will support the Safety Manager in promoting a safety-first culture.
They will help oversee classroom and field trainings, perform driver evaluations, and inform safety policy in support of the Safety Manager and the Shuttle Assistant General Manager, helping ensure the overall operational success of the shuttle operation during afternoons, evenings, and weekends.
Job Duties/
Responsibilities:
Align employees with our mission, values, and practicesProvide classroom and field training to new hiresEvaluate new hires for road readiness using established criteria and documents provided by Safety ManagerAssist Safety Manager in conducting monthly safety training meetings for all employeesProvide behind-the-wheel training of all employeesConduct evaluations of all drivers on a regular basis as determined by the Safety ManagerProvide feedback of employees to Safety Manager with recommendations based on field evaluations and observations, including recommended specific re-training as neededCompletes documentation in accordance with local, state, and federal requirementsAssist Safety Manager in maintaining location's DOT complianceAssist Safety Manager in preparing and maintaining driver DOT filesAssist Safety Manager in identifying safety concerns and/or hazards in the fieldAssist Safety Manager in identifying ways to improve existing policies and procedures to allow for continued improvement of safety cultureAssist Safety Manager in the continued development of SMF safety training programAssist Safety Manager in development and implementation of a safety incentive programOther duties as assigned Requirements:
Class B license with air brake and passenger endorsementsThree (3) years' experience in a commercial transportation or paratransit operationTwo (2) years' supervisory experience in a commercial transportation or paratransit operationPre-employment background check and drug screeningClean DMV MVRFamiliarity with DOT rules and regulationsFamiliarity with ADA rules and regulationsIntermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office suite Preferences:
Five (5) years' experience in a commercial transportation or paratransit operationThree (3) years' experience in a commercial transportation or paratransit operationTSI CertificationSmith System CertificationExperience in a parking operationExperience at an airport locationFamiliarity with a drive cam/telematics systemAbout the Company:
