3/17/23, 6/16/23, 8/9/23, 9/15/23, 12/15/23Under direction, Health Program Coordinators perform administrative and/or supervisory duties for contracted and/or county-operated health programs and services, including but not limited to staff supervision, program development and implementation, program monitoring and evaluation, coordination of services, and related duties as assigned.

Typical ways include:
Possession of a Bachelor's or higher degree from an accredited college or university in health care administration, a public health field, a health science, nursing or any nursing specialty, or in a related health field such as life sciences or physical sciences, or in a management field such as public administration or business administration; some positions may require a Master's degree.
ANDTwo years of professional journey-level experience in a relevant health field, which has included coordination and/or supervision of program staff and operations.
Desired QualificationExperience in a California Public Health Laboratory.

The word experience referenced in the minimum qualifications means full-time paid experience unless the job announcement states that volunteer experience is acceptable.
Part-time paid experience may be accumulated and pro-rated to meet the total experience requirements.

Special Requirements a) Some positions in these classes involve responsibility for supervision of direct patient care, and persons appointed to such positions may be required, in accordance with applicable federal and/or state regulations, to possess and maintain a current valid license issued by the State of California as a Registered Nurse.
b) The position designated according to State law as the Director of Public Health Nursing involves responsibility for the professional nursing component of the Countys public health nursing/field services program, and the person appointed to that position must possess and maintain a current valid Registered Nurse license and must meet the current state requirements for a director of public health nursing (California Code of Regulations Title 17, and any other applicable laws and regulations in effect at the time of appointment).
c) The incumbent of the position designated as the Director of Public Health Education must hold a Masters degree with specialization in public or community health education and must meet any other state requirements for a director of health education (California Code of Regulations, Title 17, and any other applicable laws and regulations in effect at the time of appointment).
d) The position designated as the Coordinator of the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Supplemental Nutrition Program manages and supervises the assessment and counseling of high-risk clients, and the person appointed to that position is required to possess and maintain registration with the American Dietetic Association as a Registered Dietitian.
e) The position designated as the Emergency Medical Services Program Coordinator requires possession and maintenance of an Emergency Medical Technician I or higher certificate either at the time of appointment or within one year of appointment.
NOTE:
Failure to obtain and/or maintain such required license(s) may be cause for disciplinary action in accordance with Civil Service Commission rules.

Probationary PeriodThe probationary period for this classification is twelve (12) months.

The candidate's application or other materials will not be included in this examination.
Therefore, the candidate's responses to the supplemental questionnaire should be thorough, detailed and complete.
The score from the Formula Rate Examination will determine the ranking on the eligible/employment list for this job.
All candidates competing in the testing process will receive written notice of their examination results by email.
