Summary:
This position will take the leading key role in setting and implementing the design and delivery process as well as an important role in the implementation of the project execution strategy, ensuring all BIM outputs are produced to a high standard.
The BIM Specialist is responsible for implementing and supervising drawing and modeling standards, managing drawing production, and performing non-routine and complex drafting and modeling assignments through the use of various software programs, primarily Revit, Civil 3D, Navisworks and Autodesk Construction Cloud.
The BIM Specialist is also responsible for implementing BIM initiatives such as providing guidance to staff with regards to training, standards, and modeling, as needed.
Responsible for performing project BIM and Information Management functions for major transportation infrastructure projects, the BIM Specialist will be well versed in information management process and have previous experience leading multi-disciplinary project teams in all aspects of information production, delivery and exchange.
The position will require the individual to be involved primarily with production work, and developing workflows and standards.
MAJOR DUTIES:
Ensure that models meet BIM Level 2 standards and that the design team understands the level of information required to meet expectations.
Assist and advise CAD/BIM support teams of required system upgrades.
Support and maintenance of BIM and CAD application software.
Assist with developing cutting edge tools to support BIM team in efficient workflows.
Setting up models and design templates both in 2D and 3D.
Assists with managing the development and output of document sets for the Project.
Performs project setups and updates with some direction of Rail Operations and Delivery staff with some supervisory guidance.
Implement drawing organization for large, complex drawing packages.
Facilitates collaboration and clash detection for a large, multi-discipline project team.
Troubleshoots general Civil 3D/Revit project-related issues with limited assistance.
Participates in Civil 3D/Revit development.
Develops and mentors staff on standards and processes.
Self-Checks own work, and staff's, to identify QA/QC improvement opportunities.
Leverages tools and technology to provide quality solutions to BIM team and staff.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of Enterprise Digital Strategy design and implementation; Portfolio Management and Enterprise Architecture; Stakeholder engagement and negotiations; Asset Management best practice, rail infrastructure, asset management, and asset management technologies, including EAM-IS, CMMS, GIS (and other related software systems).
Ability to use modelling and analytical tools to demonstrate reduction and/or elimination of health and safety risks in the design process.
Ability to manage complexity in a systemic and holistic approach.
Ability to write effectively and create well structured, organized, and visually appealing documentation deliverables.
Present to a variety of audiences.
Manage workload independently, engage internal and external stakeholders, document business processes, and translate business requirements into technical requirements.
This position may directly oversee the work of one or more asset managers.
Ability to provide guidance and leadership to contract team members.
Ability to inspire team members, delivery partners, and client/owner to achieve positive and effective Health & Safety processes and procedures for the program through virtual or in-person format.
Qualifications:
Master's Degree is preferred.
BIM Manager with at least 10 years' experience in major infrastructure/transportation projects.
Proven capability in managing design interfaces and integration processes.
Experience of working in an engineering production environment.
Experience with rail and transit projects.
A clear understanding of our multi-disciplinary design approach and the delivery of projects to a high quality, throughout all design stage gates.
Experience of Implementing BIM Level 2 Accreditation / Certification to ISO 19650 within a Business Environment.
Excellent understanding of all relevant BIM standards, design integration procedures and relevant legislation.
Knowledge of Revit, BIM360, ProjectWise, AutoDesk Civil 3D, and other BIM support tools.
Working experience with ISO 19650 BIM standards.
Experience with ensuring drawing delivery meets CAD/BIM standards, Digital Plan of Work and the requirements for the project BIM execution plan.
Comfortable managing team leaders and senior CAD/BIM staff members from other offices and various disciplines.
Established understanding of BIM quality assurance guidelines and standards.
Previous experience with supporting National and/or Regional BIM standards.
LOCATION:
Preferably, Sacramento CA May consider remote (within State of CA) applicants based on skills and qualifications - if not based in Sacramento, individual should be prepared to travel regularly/often to Sacramento CA and possibly other client locations in CA.
