Under general direction, plans, supervises, assigns, and reviews the work of staff responsible for community recreation programs and activities; ensures work quality and adherence to established policies and procedures; provides highly responsible and technical staff assistance for the UCP community; and acts as a member of the department's management team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

1) Recruits & supervises staff and volunteers in planning, organizing, and implementing activities for all ages groups and disabilities.
2) Maintains records and prepares reports on recreational activities.
3) Develops and maintains physical and electronic files.
4) Coordinates specialized activities within the department and with outside groups/organizations.
5) Attends meetings regularly.
6) Assists in the development and implementation of policies and procedures governing recreation and facility use.
7) Other duties as required.
Education and/or Experience Minimum high school diploma or GED required.
Bachelor's or College degree level of education preferred.
Three to five years of previous successful experience in the field of recreation preferred.
Mid-level word processing and computer experience a must.
Strong technical skills in Office - Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel and electronic newsletters Required Skills/Abilities Strong leadership abilities with experience in staff supervision and team management.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbal and in written form; above average written communication skills are necessary as well as the ability to interact in person and over the phone with a wide variety of constituents.
Proficiency in administrative tasks including record keeping and reporting.
Ability to work in public in an effective manner.
Knowledge of health and safety regulations and practices within the recreation field.
Ability to handle multiple priorities and adapt to changing circumstances.
Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer and/or talking on the phone.
Travel to programs and events throughout the area.
Must be able to occasionally lift and/or carry up to 35 pounds.
This is a full-time/benefited position.
