Sacramento, CA Sacramento, CA Part-time Part-time $3,693 - $4,625 a month $3,693 - $4,625 a month The Advanced Monitoring Techniques Section (AMTS) is a dedicated section within the California Air Resource's Board (CARB), tasked with implementing air monitoring projects using a range of technologies and methods.
We monitor with mobile and stationary platforms, as well as sensor networks.
Our goal is to support community air monitoring programs, identifying air quality impacts from industrial facilities and other potential sources.
The team also assesses and incorporates new technologies as they become available to ensure reliable ambient air monitoring data, crucial for identifying community air pollution issues.
This work involves regular collaboration with other CARB divisions, community groups, local air districts, industry, and air monitoring experts.
As an Air Resources Technician II, you'll work under the guidance of the Air Resources Supervisor I (ARS I) and other experienced AMTS staff.
Your primary roles will be conducting community air monitoring for the Study of Neighborhood Air near Petroleum Sources (SNAPS) program and managing operations within the sensor evaluation program's environmental test chamber as part of the Community Air Protection program.
Key responsibilities will include instrument deployment, maintenance, data quality assurance, and environmental chamber operations for collecting data during sensor testing.
You'll also be involved in developing contracts and equipment acquisition.
This position requires the employee to pass training courses including periodic refresher courses in first-aid/CPR, fall protection, forklift, and defensive driver training.
Employee may be required to wear personal protective equipment including, but not limited to, a hard hat, safety shoes, reflective vest, nomex coveralls, hearing protection, gloves, and safety glasses.
During deployment periods, this position will require extended time on site at monitoring stations.
In addition, the employee may be required to temporarily alter his/her work schedule, to work overtime, and to travel overnight to accommodate field work.
The supervisor will provide as much advance notice as possible to allow the employee sufficient time to prepare for the shift change.
