Student Assistant-Information Technology (IT) Support

DescriptionThe Public Employment Relations Board (PERB) is seeking to hire a student assistant who will work under close supervision of the Information Technology (IT) staff and provide technical support to PERB.
This includes special projects such as providing assistance with software applications and researching technology solutions.
This position is ideal for candidates interested in gaining an understanding of business operations; law office experience; exposure to state government; and developing skills applicable to an entry-level career.
RequirementsConditions of EmploymentThis is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited, student position.
Employment in all positions with University Enterprises, Inc.
is dependent upon the mutual consent of University Enterprises, Inc.
and the employee.
This means that either University Enterprises, Inc.
or the employee can, at any time, terminate the employment relationship at will, with or without cause.

PrerequisitesMust be a college student attending classes during the regular term (fall, spring, and winter, if applicable) at an accredited college or university.

Majors/Fields of StudyComputer Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Digital Media, Engineering, Graphic Design, Software EngineeringWork ScheduleFlexible workdays and work hours, Monday - Friday, between 8 AM - 5 PM.
The final work schedule will be determined by the supervisor.
Additional Work ScheduleStudent Assistant and Graduate Assistant employees generally work up to 24 hours per workweek (Sunday - Saturday) during the academic year and up to 40 hours per workweek during breaks; (winter, spring, and summer).
Minimum Qualifications Minimum 3.
0 grade point average.
Experience with Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Ability and willingness to learn new processes, and applications/ software systems effectively and efficiently.
Ability to independently complete tasks with minimal supervision.
Attention to detail.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
Ability to process requests consistently with high level of accuracy.
Ability to prioritize problems and promptly resolve or escalate when necessary.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with and collaborate with peers and other staff as needed.
Ability to provide excellent customer service to internal staff and external constituents.
Strong time management skills and ability to manage individual assignments and complete duties within tight deadlines.
Strong desktop support and troubleshooting skills.
Experience with multiple software applications.
Strong analytical skills.
Duties and Responsibilities Assist users with software challenges.
Assist users with technical equipment needs.
Set up and move tech equipment.
Research Information Technology (IT) software and equipment for potential purchase.
Review and update IT policies, monitor compliance.
Coordinate Webpage content update.
Maintain and improve Intranet.
Maintain equipment inventory.
Perform project research, development, and implementation.
Assist with business services and other administrative essential functions as needed.
Physical RequirementsSit for extended periods; frequently stand and walk; manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication; use of office equipment including computer workstations, telephones, calculators, copiers, printers, scanners, shredders, and fax machines; use of basic tools and ability to lift/move up to 40 lbs.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
