Student Assistant - Legislative Help Desk Support (Hybrid)

DescriptionThe Office of Legislative Counsel is seeking a self-motivated, independent student who is able to master new skills and concepts quickly providing helpdesk support to Legislative staff.
In this role, you will assist customers using remote assistance tools with MS Office products, proprietary software and hardware while documenting all issues detailing common problems and error trends.
This position requires the ability to enter data using a keyboard while simultaneously troubleshooting issues.

Employment in all positions with University Enterprises, Inc.
is dependent upon the mutual consent of University Enterprises, Inc.
and the employee.

six-semester units or nine quarter units for undergraduate students; four-semester units or six quarter units for graduate students.

Majors/Fields of StudyComputer Information Systems, Computer Science and EngineeringWork ScheduleFlexible workdays and work hours, Monday - Friday, between 8 AM - 5 PM.
The final work schedule will be determined by the supervisor.
Additional Work ScheduleStudent Assistant and Graduate Assistant employees generally work up to 24 hours per workweek (Sunday - Saturday) during the academic year and up to 40 hours per workweek during breaks; (winter, spring, and summer).
Minimum Qualifications Knowledge of Windows and MS Office.
Must have excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills both in oral and written form.
Ability to perform tasks requiring attention to detail.
Ability to prioritize assignments to ensure they are completed in a timely manner.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability, willingness and desire to learn new skills and tasks.
Experience working in a team environment and accepting direction from one or more technical lead people.

Perform work, and maintain availability, during work hours (remote and in-office).

Strong interpersonal and communications skills.
Experience in customer service.
Experience in Microsoft Office applications and Windows 10/11 operating systems.
Duties and Responsibilities Provide telephone support for Legislative staff for the purpose of diagnosing and/or solving problems related to networks, software, hardware and peripherals.
Evaluate calls to determine appropriate response and action.
Prioritize call and escalate resolution based on situation.
Document the request(s), issue(s) and resolution(s) into a ticketing system.
Create knowledge base articles.
Work closely with a team in a sharing environment.
Physical RequirementsSit for extended periods; frequently stand and walk; manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication; use of office equipment including computer workstations, telephones, calculators, copiers, printers, and scanners with or without reasonable accommodation.
Have normal, corrective vision range; ability to see color and to distinguish letters, numbers and symbols.
Working ConditionsWork is performed in a hybrid office and remote environmentWork requires almost exclusive work using a telephone and computer.
Business casual attire required when in office.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
