Student Assistant - Americans with Disabilities Act Communications Support (Hybrid)

DescriptionThe California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is seeking to hire a student assistant to perform various functions that support the Office of Communications.
Under the general supervision of the branch chief for Digital Communications and Compliance, the student assistant is responsible for assisting staff manage Planning and Modal Programs internal and external website.
The student assistant will also participate in document digital accessibility efforts in accordance with Caltrans and web content accessibility guideline (WCAG) standards to meet assembly bill 434 (AB434) legislation.
RequirementsConditions of EmploymentThis is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited, student position.
Employment in all positions with University Enterprises, Inc.
is dependent upon the mutual consent of University Enterprises, Inc.
and the employee.
This means that either University Enterprises, Inc.
or the employee can, at any time, terminate the employment relationship at will, with or without cause.

PrerequisitesMust be a college student attending classes during the regular term (fall, spring, and winter, if applicable), at one of the accredited colleges or universities on our affiliation list.

pdf Students must be enrolled in at least six-semester units or nine quarter units for undergraduate students; four-semester units or six quarter units for graduate students.
Students declared major must match the major(s) listed in the job posting.
Majors/Fields of StudyComputer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Graphics EngineerWork Schedule Flexible workdays and work hours, Monday - Friday, between 8 AM - 5 PM.
The final work schedule will be determined by the supervisor.
Additional Work ScheduleStudent Assistant and Graduate Assistant employees generally work up to 24 hours per workweek (Sunday - Saturday) during the academic year and up to 40 hours per workweek during breaks; (winter, spring, and summer).
Minimum Qualifications Must maintain a minimum cumulative 2.
0 GPA.
Must complete each term with minimum unit requirements for Undergraduate and Graduate student classifications.
Proof will be collected at the end of each Spring and Fall term.
Possess good communications skills.
Ability to manage time and resources effectively.
Able to work in a collaborative team environment.
Preferred Qualifications Under the amendment to Government Code Section 18220, state agencies shall give preference to a qualified applicant (up to 26 years of age) who is, or has been, a dependent child in foster care, a homeless youth, a formerly incarcerated youth, or a victim of human trafficking.
Familiarity with JavaScript, CSS, and HTML.
Duties and Responsibilities Assists with the maintenance of Planning and Modal Programs internal and external website.
Utilizes content management systems Drupal and Sitecore to develop and publish website content on both public and internal web platforms.
Fulfills requests from stakeholders to update web content.
Audit, remediate, and test electronic documents (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Adobe PDF) for Section 508 and AB434 compliance using assistive technologies, Microsoft Office Accessibility Checker, Adobe PDF Accessibility Checker and PAC3.
Provides weekly status reports to management related to their assignments including Google Analytics and Constant Contact statistics.
Attends applicable American with Disabilities Act (ADA) remediation trainings as required.
Physical RequirementsSit for extended periods; frequently stand and walk; manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication; use of office equipment including computer workstations, telephones, calculators, copiers, printers, and scanners with or without reasonable accommodation.
Working ConditionsWork is performed in a hybrid office and remote environment.
Employees will be required to work according to the current UEI remote workplace policy and sign a UEI telework agreement.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
